HOLON and SEKISUI KYDEX collaborate to develop a sustainable approach to autonomous bus interiors with ALLEN® 5050 WLG

HOLON, a German startup focused on reshaping the future of autonomous transport, has developed a next-generation shuttle that prioritizes sustainability, safety, and passenger comfort. In pursuit of a material solution that could meet FMVSS 302 flammability standards, support recyclability, and maintain a premium aesthetic across all interior components, HOLON collaborated with SEKISUI KYDEX to identify a thermoplastic that could meet these demands.

The result: ALLEN® 5050 WLG, a low-gloss, high-impact thermoplastic engineered to deliver visual consistency and tactile comfort. HOLON’s design team selected the material for its ability to reduce glare, enhance passenger experience, and support circular design goals through recyclability. The matte finish and color-matching capabilities of ALLEN® 5050 WLG helped HOLON achieve a cohesive interior environment—critical for a brand building vehicles from the ground up.

HOLON’s commitment to sustainability extended beyond material selection. With plans to launch in both the U.S. and Europe, the company required production flexibility and consistent quality across continents. SEKISUI KYDEX connected HOLON with trusted thermoforming partners in Germany and the U.S., ensuring seamless execution regardless of location.

HOLON’s autonomous vehicle is more than a mobility solution—it’s a statement about the future of transport.

This collaboration demonstrates how thoughtful design and strategic partnerships can enable innovation in autonomous mobility. HOLON’s shuttle is not only redefining how people move—it’s proving that sustainability and design excellence can coexist in even the most demanding transportation environments.
