INTRODUCTION
REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals) is a new EU chemicals policy that came into effect on June 1, 2007. This regulation policy replaces multiple European directives and legislation. Its primary goal is to protect human health and the environment through earlier and better identification of the intrinsic properties and impact of chemical substances.
Manufacturers and importers of chemical substances made in or imported into the European Union in annual volumes of 1 ton or more must register them with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). The purpose of registration is to create a data-base from which industry can better manage the risks from chemicals and provide safety information on the substances. REACH regulation also calls for the identification of the most dangerous chemicals and to progressively eliminate the use of these chemicals when suitable alternatives are identified.
SEKISUI KYDEX, LLC PRODUCTS AND REACH
- KYDEX® sheet products are all considered articles and are exempt from REACH registration since they do not contain SVHC’s. (Guidance for Articles, Article 3.3)
- KYDEX® sheet products do not contain any of the SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern).
- KYDEX® sheet products do not contain chemical substances intended to be released during the normal and reasonably foreseeable conditions of the product’s use as defined by the REACH Regulation and existing guidance. (Guidance for Articles, Article 2.1)

It is our intent to keep current with all the changes associated with REACH regulation and actively eliminate any chemical component that is or may be identified as a SVHC.
