Available with custom color, KYDEX® surfaceGrip™ opens the door to new design possibilities, combining integral color and a tactile experience with soft touch texture.
KYDEX® 5555+SG is a proprietary, high performance thermoplastic sheet with a tactile, anti-slip surface. It exceeds the flammability and smoke development requirements, making it ideal for tray table inlays. The product stands up to harsh disinfectants, and resists staining.

There is no change in the polymer formulation of aviation grade KYDEX® Thermoplastics.

surfaceGrip™ technology will hold items, like a phone, in place when the surface is at a 25° incline, compared to a 12° incline for surfaces without surfaceGrip™ technology.

DEPTH – PART COMPLEXITY
surfaceGrip™ is ideal for flat and simple geometries.
surfaceGrip™ technology is intended for flat inlays and simple geometries, like drape formed parts.
As with any material, during the process of drawing the sheet, it will RECOMMENDED: stretch and thin the surfaceGrip™ layer. Excessive thinning will affect the anti-slip and tactile characteristics.
Ideally, the depth of draw should be less than 1″ (25.4mm).

SEKISUI KYDEX’s appLab™ commissioned flammability testing for several sheets KYDEX® of Thermoplastic sheet by an accredited third party lab. The results within KYDEX® the table below illustrate select aviation grades of Thermoplastic sheet with surfaceGrip™ maintains FAR 25.853 compliance. SEKISUI KYDEX encourages our partners and customers to conduct their own tests to determine the suitability of each product for their particular purposes.

CHEMICAL STAIN RESISTANCE
surfaceGrip™ has best in-class chemical and stain resistance.
This technology offers enhanced chemical and stain resistance compared to competitive anti-slip, tactile technologies on the market.
Prolonged exposure to some aggressive chemical and staining agents may cause some discoloration or staining, however this may be mitigated by when selecting the substrate color, and limiting exposure time.
